Djoniba Dance & Drum Centre and Peridance Capezio Center are proud to announce a new partnership in dance between two major dance institutions uniting their forces to provide ethnic and African dance classes combined with ballet, modern, salsa and much more under the same roof.
Peridance will become the official home of Djoniba Dance & Drum Centre when the center moves to its new state of the art dance space near Union Square in the summer of 2009, with Djoniba Centre running exclusively a full suite of ethnic and African dance classes, including African dance, Samba/Afro-Brazilian, Haitian, Afro-Caribbean, Cuban, Belly Dance, and much more.
Igal Perry, Founder and Artistic Director of
Peridance Capezio Center, has been a longtime visionary and ambassador of dance and was one of the first NYC dance school owners to give Djoniba Mouflet the opportunity to teach African dance, Jazz, and Ballet when he first came to the United States. Igal Perry reaffirmed his continued support for Djoniba Mouflet and his Djoniba Dance and Drum Centre (DDDC) by providing DDDC with a new space to continue its dance classes after DDDC closed its own doors in December 2008. Djoniba Centre's 20-year history, worldwide recognition, and renowned teachers combined with Igal Perry's pioneering vision in the dance world, numerous classes and teachers will provide students from both organizations with an amazing variety of dance classes in a new state of the art home.
